Psychological First Aid Instructors support the delivery of Canadian Red Cross Psychological First Aid and Self-Care & Wellness courses. Candidates will develop competencies in facilitating case-based learning, and how to support learners in understanding a resiliency-building approach to emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing.

How to become a Red Cross Instructor:

Step 1-  Check Prerequisite

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Psychological First Aid certification

Step 2-Fundamentals of Instruction

  • Online Fundamentals of Instruction approximately 8 hours
  • 16 hours classroom including in-class micro teaching

Step 3- Discipline-Specific Classroom Component

  • 16 hours classroom including in-class micro teaching

* Register for Psychological First Aid Discipline-Specific course below


Step 4- Teaching Experience

  • Online Teaching Experience module (approximately 30-45 min)
  • Complete a classroom teaching experience (up to 3 attempt)

Step 5- Certification

An electronic certification will be issued upon completion valid for 3 years.

**Red Cross instructors can only teach courses under an approved training partner.**
