This course provides candidates with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach Canadian Red Cross first aid and CPR courses. The candidates are expected to have finely tuned first aid and CPR technical skills. Therefore, this course focuses on how to teach and facilitate first aid and CPR skills.
How to become a Red Cross Instructor:
Step 1- Evaluate skills and Check Prerequisite
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Valid Standard First Aid level C certificate
- Skills evaluation
- Online Fundamentals of Instruction approximately 8 hours
- 16 hours classroom including in-class micro teaching

Step 3- Discipline-Specific Classroom Component
- 16 hours classroom including in-class micro teaching
* Register for First Aid Discipline-Specific course below
Step 4- Teaching Experience
- Online Teaching Experience module (approximately 30-45 min)
- Complete a classroom teaching experience (up to 3 attempt)
Step 5- Certification
An electronic certification will be issued upon completion valid for 3 years.
